Here, there are two main processes involved.

First, the spinning process occurs where raw cotton is converted to cotton thread.

Next, the thread passes through the weaving process, woven to make cotton fabric.

The Spinning Process

Let us consider the entire spinning process in detail to understand how cotton fabric for t-shirts are made:

  • Mixing and Blowing:

First, the spinning process begins with mixing and blowing the staple fiber from the cotton plant.

The fiber is unraveled through the mixing and blowing equipment, which helps clean the fiber from any impurities.

Then, a “lap” is made, in the form of sheets.

  • Carding:

Lap is combed through carding equipment that helps to remove any fine dust from the fibers. It also helps to create string-shaped carded silver fibers as well.

  • Former:

Around 24 carded silvers are brought together to create a silver lap bed.

  • Combing:

The lap is further combed to remove any dust present before this process. This step ensures that the big and tall v neck and t-shirts contain no dust or dirt in any form.

  • Drawing:

Here, the drawing machine is used to straighten the sheets and help remove any thickness involved completely.

  • Winding:

The spinning process to create cotton fabric for tall and regular-sized t-shirts completes the winding process that helps to rewind the finished yarn product to help cone it on the bobbins according to the further requirements in the industry.

After the spinning process, the completed bobbins are ready to be taken for the weaving process, where they can be used effectively to create the fabric.

The Weaving Process

The weaving process helps to convert the warp and weft yarn by crossing them over to finally make a cloth fabric called the loom.

This process is the most important step in making t-shirts.

  • Warping:

All the cones are placed on the warping machine to create a predetermined number of warp beams.

Constant pressure is placed to ensure that the fabric starts to take shape during the process.

  • Sizing:

The final textile may require a very specific number of warping beams over each other to ensure proper drying and sizing.

This step helps to ensure this site is maintained.

  • Drawing-in:

Beams placement on looms requires a proper setting that would use droppers, guide bars, and other placement equipment for proper setting.

  • Weaving:

Here, the actual weaving process starts.

First, the shedding takes place where two warp groups are opened and allowed to pass through each other.

Then, the picking occurs where the weft gets inserted in the two warp groups.

After that, the beat-up process occurs where the newly inserted yarn is pushed back through the reed.

The let-off leads to the yarn being unwounded to separate it from the beams.

Finally, the take-up process occurs when the beam’s woven fabric gets wounded.

After this process is completed, the actual cotton fabric is ready that can be used to create shirts.
